Earned a teaching certificate in 1980. Taught Introduction to computers, mostly Adult
Education, first in a community school, then the Miami-Dade, and Broward county school
systems. In the Broward county school system, when teachers needed extra credit for
recertification, they took one-or two-day workshops. With over 25 years in Data Processing, I
was able to teach these workshops. I taught about 30 different subjects, had a different class
every day - different subject, different students, was evaluated every day. I wrote all of my own
teaching materials, mostly 20-page fully illustrated handouts.
I loved teaching, my students loved me.

I once had a black High School senior tell me, "You cool, Mr.
Chittenden, you know dat? you cool." I say, "Yeh, I know dat."
Chittenden, you know dat? you cool." I say, "Yeh, I know dat."
